Tourism in Montenegro: A Flourishing Sector

Montenegro, a gem nestled in the heart of the Balkans, has been witnessing a remarkable growth in its tourism sector, as the official stats show. This scenic country, known for its breath-taking landscapes ranging from rugged mountains to serene beaches, has become an increasingly popular destination for travelers around the world.

According to the latest data from Montenegro's statistical office, there was a significant uptick in the number of foreign tourists visiting the country in November. The figure rose by 15% year-on-year, reaching 46,145 visitors. This increase is not just in the number of arrivals; the total number of tourists staying in Montenegro during November also saw a similar 15% increase, totalling 54,468.

An interesting aspect of this growth is the surge in tourist overnights, which grew to 138,429 in November, up from 123,457 in the same month the previous year. This indicates not only a higher number of visitors but also a longer duration of stay per visitor, suggesting that tourists are increasingly finding Montenegro an appealing place to spend more time.

The diversity of tourists visiting Montenegro is notable. Visitors from Germany lead the pack, accounting for 17% of all tourist overnights. They are followed by tourists from Serbia and Türkiye, with 8.8% and 8.7% shares, respectively. This variety in tourist demographics highlights Montenegro's universal appeal, catering to a range of preferences and interests.

Montenegro's allure lies in its varied landscapes, and this is reflected in the distribution of overnight stays. Seaside resorts, known for their stunning Adriatic coastlines, are the most popular, attracting a whopping 70% of all overnight stays. The capital city of Podgorica, with its unique blend of modernity and rich history, draws 21% of overnight stays. Not far behind are the serene mountain resorts, claiming 4.1%, and other resorts make up the remaining 4.5%.

The increase in tourism is a boon for Montenegro's economy, bringing in revenue and creating job opportunities. It also underscores the country's growing reputation as a must-visit destination in Europe. With its mix of natural beauty, historical sites, and vibrant culture, Montenegro is poised to continue its upward trajectory in the tourism sector. As more people discover its charms, the country can expect to see even more growth in this industry in the coming years.

• Based on my experience with CMM in Budva, Montenegro, I can say that they are reliable, fast, and they deliver what they promise. They take really good care of their clients. For instance, I was offered a lift from the airport, and they would take me back and forth from Tivat to Budva and Becici to see various properties. They would answer all of my questions and respond promptly. They have an excellent team: Katarina, Alexander, Natasha, Martin and some other guys whose names I don’t remember. Katarina, my wonderful agent, went to every length to help me find a perfect home. Unfortunately, my situation changed and I had to postpone my relocation to Montenegro.

• We were introduced to CMM by friends who had already done research on Montenegro and CMM. We purchased our apartment in Dobrota, just outside Kotor, all remotely from South Africa, during the lockdown. Everything was seamless without any problems at all. All the CMM departments work together well from the sales team, head office, legal, interior design and rental department. Every detail was well communicated with an abundance of zoom meetings, videos, emails etc
  We are thrilled with the outcome and enjoyed working with the CMM team. They were incredibly professional.
  After sales service is also excellent as we move into the rental phase of the apartment and over all management of the apartment including maintenance.
  We have been directly and indirectly involved with many houses/apartments all over the world and this was the up there with the best service we have received.

• Last year we decided to find a new home close to the sea. It was quite difficult in the beginning to make the right choice. Once we found CMM Company was a great luck! We immediately received detailed consultation on the country and purchase opportunities. Being attracted by Kotor - one of the most amazing parts of the coast, we decided to take a family trip and maybe make our dream of new home come true. As just discoverers of Montenegro, we were accepted like at home which was a one more pleasant surprise.
